10 cent credit

do you take your own travel mug when you go to a coffee shop? i must admit, i don't always. did you know some coffee shops will pay you if you bring in your own cup? starbucks for example will credit your bill 10 cents. ok a dime won't make you rich but just think of the trash you won't be adding to the landfill. starbucks usually writes your order on their cups, but if you take in your own cup, they write your order on a little post it note.

the keepcup is a good choice if you're looking for a new travel mug. it comes in 4 sizes (4, 8, 12, or 16 oz) and dozens of color combinations. you can choose one of their stock color combinations or design your cup to match your mood, choose your college or your favorite sports team colors! their web site allows you to preview your cup so you'll know what it's gonna look like before you hit "add to cart." i've had my keepcup for a while now and like it so much i ordered one for hubby and another for daughter #1.

starbucks & my new travel mug

i don't normally drink starbucks coffee (it tastes burnt to me) but when they are the only coffee shop around, sometimes there's no choice. this weekend we were out and about so we decided to stop in for a cup. i thought i'd give their new blonde roast a try. (i told you i don't go there often. how long ago did they introduce their blonde coffee? lol) i must say it was quite nice; much softer. i guess i won't have to avoid starbucks next time i'm craving caffeine.

also, on this trip i found this stainless steel travel mug that i had to get. the selling point, besides the fact that it's double walled stainless steel, was that it only holds 8 ounces! sometimes i need a smaller travel mug and while i do have a plastic one, it just doesn't keep my coffee hot. problem solved.

vegas baby!

daughter #2 went to vegas to attend a salsa congress and look at what she brought back for me... a las vegas starbucks mug!!! do i have a great daughter, or what.

apparently the latest trend is to match your shoes to your starbucks drink!

coffee w/ a kitty?

i went to visit my parents this past weekend and while i was enjoying my toffee nut latte, this kitty appeared in the window. this is jersey girl, one of my mom's cats, asking to come in. my mom is that crazy cat lady you've heard tell about. haha, no not really but she does care for the neighborhood strays. she puts food out for them and gets them fixed. props to my mom for going out of her way to help control the overpopulation of stray cats.

starbucks to serve beer & wine?

yesterday starbucks announced they are going to offer beer & wine in a few of their so cal locations. i don't drink, but if i did, i don't think i would go to starbucks for my libations. that's what pubs, bars & cocktail lounges are for. starbucks = coffee, as their sign clearly states. maybe they'll come up with a guinness latte. lol.

a frog & a frap

when i was thinking of how to photograph my frappuccino, i was carrying it all around my house trying to find the right spot. when i got to my courtyard, i saw my ceramic frog and i knew this is where i should shoot it. i think a frog and a frap are a pretty good pairing, don't you?

yesterday i had my 100% kona coffee from wailele estates in my hawaiian starbucks mug my daughter brought me from her recent trip to hawaii. i've had kona coffees from other roasters but i must say this one is my favorite. if you're into konas, i would recommend this one.

i found this sign in the parking lot of our local grocery store on foothill bl (route 66). since route 66 is so historic, it seemed fitting to make the picture black & white.

coffee at 30,000 ft

you don't have to be a coffee connoisseur to know they serve stale coffee on an airplane.  best thing to do is to buy your favorite brew in the terminal and take it on-board.  you will be enjoying your coffee long before the plane even leaves the tarmac.

just say no

troll santa

with christmas just 3 weeks away, i thought it would be fitting to post a cup of coffee in a holiday setting.  what is more christmas than a santa nutcracker?  so here is a mini starbucks mug ornament, filled with coffee, and my steinbach troll santa nutcracker.

did you know that according to german folklore, nutcrackers are thought to protect your home & bring good luck?  and the reason they show their teeth is to ward off the evil spirits.
