i love caffeinated garden art and i have a few pieces scattered here and there in my yard. my next project was to reuse this old aluminum coffee pot that i had previously used as a planter.
i knew what i wanted to do with it but i wasn't sure what supplies i would need, so i got hubby and we went to our local home center. we ended up getting the 5 items shown below: 3' pipe, 45° elbow, close nipple, flat washer and a lock nut.
the hardest part of this project is making the hole on the bottom of the coffee pot. after drilling several small holes and one larger one, it just took a little sawing and some filing to get a nice round hole.
then you just screw the pipe, elbow and nipple together. insert it into the hole and from the inside add the washer (for stability) and the lock nut to keep it all together.
note: my coffee pot was a light weight aluminum. if you have a heavier pot, these supplies and application probably won't work for you.
and there you have it. stick the pipe into the ground in your garden and you now have caffeinated garden art.
oh, as a finishing touch, i added a glass "drop of coffee" from the spout.
i love coffee. the aroma. the taste. the experience. and lately i have been enjoying taking pictures of my adventures with coffee. i hope you enjoy looking at them as much as i have enjoyed taking them. now sit back, with a cup of coffee of course, and enjoy.

enamelware
i found this enamel coffee pot at an antique shop in monterey, ca and the matching cup came from ebay.
for a touch of whimsy, i hung the pot on a shepherd's hook under our plum tree and placed the cup on a little table i had in storage. as you can see, not all yard art has to come from a garden center.

caffeinated garden whimsy updated
looking back to when i first posted caffeinated garden whimsy, it was cute but now i think it's cuter. i updated my thrift store coffee pot by adding a wind chime "pouring" out of the spout and hanging it from a taller shepherd's hook. now it's not only cute, it's music to my ears when the wind blows.

caffeinated garden whimsy
in addition to the coffee pot i posted last week, i also had this old percolator. this time, instead of planting in it, i decided to hang it on a small garden hook that was previously holding a little lantern. i positioned it over a coffee cup that is planted with a succulent and placed that on a cinder block that i spray painted orange! these are all things i already had. they were just here and there. think outside the (planter) box and let your imagination run wild. what do you think of my little caffeinated vignette?

coffee pot planter
looking for something unusual for your garden? bring your love of coffee to your garden by planting in an old coffee pot. this old pot was in a box of items i was going to donate but instead i decided to repurpose it. it brings a touch of the unexpected to my garden and i love it.
tip: when planting in containers, fill the bottom with plastic bottles from your recycle bin. it'll take up extra space and save you on potting soil.
